Falsalama
Photographer, real ordained Nagpa (Tibetan Buddhist Tantric lay priest) and my vajra brother. Quite possibly the realest, most honest human being I know. He’ll try to tell you different but I taught him all he knows ;-)

Danger uncool alert – Flower Macros!
Last night I borrowed a set of Canon extension tubes from a photographer friend, the rather lovely Gullevek.
Today I took way too many macro shots of flowers.
Capt. Muju

It’s been a long month.
The Beats exhibition, house guests, domestic travel, increasing temperatures and the usual slew of rude people on the trains.
Not much time for photography or keeping up with my rss feeds and even less time for blog writing.
I did find time, however, to shoot a portrait of a dear friend and his lovely girlfriend who stayed with us for a week or so though.

Takemura Noa – Portrait shoot
I recently shot a very sweet Japanese ‘talento’ girl, 竹村乃亜 (Takemura Noa) for her portfolio and web site.
I fought the law……..
New Portfolio Site
My new Portfolio site is live. The idea was to provide a minimal number of photographs within an uncluttered interface and larger photos to allow clients to get a quick overview of my work without being faced with the 200 plus images on my main site. If that was the brief I’m reasonably confident that…
T-shirt shopping in the wild west
Peshawar, Pakistan April 2001 , 5 months before, well ok we all know before what. There I was, hanging out in the wild west, staying in a cramped dorm in the only safe hotel in town, beds so close together they were touching, falling asleep to the sound of gunfire every night. I’d met a…
Looking skinny like a model – Update 2
Well, well, it seems that being threatened with legal action really does work occasionally, especially when the person being threatens knows they have f&^ked up.The agency in question have, after several weeks of not contacting me, agreed to pay up over this debacle.A sum acceptable to all parties has been agreed on.I’m obviously very happy,…

I’m now a Getty contributer
Today I received an email from Getty Images via my Flickr account asking if I would like to include some selected images from my Flickr stream in the new Getty Flickr collection. After some thought on the matter I have decided it would be crazy to say no, although I’m sure some of my photographer…

The Pretentious Beats?
The Tokyo Beats:-
A loose collective of reprobates, sometime photographers and alcohol abusers of various degrees. Talentless f&%ks with big mouths and bigger egos.
Piece of humble pie anyone?

Recently my wife went to Shanghai for a little well deserved holiday and break from me.
Whenever she goes on these little trips she always brings me back some great presents, but this time she excelled herself.
Behold, a Chairman Mao ‘Commemorate watch No. 368’.
It got me thinking though……….

***UPDATE-Uniqlo removed the video from their site and I didn’t have a chance to grab a copy…..now lost forever in the mists of time****
Santa of Nazareth
A few years ago, before I ever came to Tokyo a friend of mine (who, as an aside is now quite well known in Bollywood…..another story entirely;-), told me that a friend of a friend had once seen a window display in a Tokyo department store that was, to say the least, odd.
The Japanese, for the most part not being Christians, had gotten the Christmas story a little mixed up, and had built a display of a crucified Santa Claus.
The greatest person I have ever called ‘friend’.
