Shooting Koji Kakinuma – Contemporary Calligrapher

I recently had the pleasure of shooting an interview (and eating soba and drinking sake afterwards:) with the amazingly talented calligrapher Koji Kakinuma.

Kakinuma San is a bit of a legend as he is the first living calligrapher to ever hold a solo exhibition at the Kanazawa 21st Contemporary Art Museum in Japan.

You really need to head over to his site to check out his awesome large scale calligraphy pieces to see why he was awarded that (amongst many other) honors.

A really super nice, intelligent guy with great taste in music who made me feel super welcome at his studio and was a real pleasure to talk too both during and after the interview.
Respect where it is undoubtedly due. Thanks Koji!
