Nothing like a good name drop, especially if it’s someone revered by millions of people world wide as a living god.
I recently came across this picture thanks to my dearest friend Falsalama (see my portrait of him HERE).
The original photo was taken by Claire Pullinger and this must have been taken in 1999, when Falsalama and I were soundmen for His Holiness in Bodh Gaya, India for his teachings over the millenium.

More Narcisuss

As with my earlier post, Every now and then I have free time on my hands and no one to shoot so I end up shooting myself.
Keep telling myself its for lighting practise, keeping my hand in, trying out new setups and equipment, this time a new boom arm and softbox.
There seems to be some deeper psychological process at work too, especially in the post production phase, editing out the increasing number of dark shadows and blown blood vessels on my face, a Dorian Gray like guilty pleasure when I end up with a picture I want to show the world.
So anyway, enough navel gazing, heres the picture.

Narcissus?

A cold Saturday in Tokyo, my day off and nothing constructive to do.
Really wanting to practice my lighting skills due to some upcoming assignments the only model available would have to do.

There seems to something inherently narcissistic about the self portrait, a stable of artists since the dawn of time. The challenge, to represent oneself truthfully, warts and all, or as is so often the case, to ‘big up your badself’.
