Welcome to 2010 Mr Clarke
2010.01.06
I spent the new year with the wifes parents in Yamagata, stuffing my face and getting hammered on good whiskey with my father in law.
It was damn cold and the snow fell continuously for days erasing all the sharp edges from both the physical landscape and my overactive mind.
The quiet stillness of a snow covered city at night soothing my Tokyo-withered nerves.
I shot very few pictures but did make it out for a few walks in the freezing silence and so I present here a little of what soothed me.
(And starting as I mean to go on for this new year BIGGER pictures)

Finally pictures that are my style :)
My favourite would be the one before last (antepenultian one?)
Nice work, quiet but still with the Uchujin touch.
Have a nice 2010 you bastard…
You couldn’t find even one passed-out drunken person up there?
Some of these are actually, well, nice.
Love it, reminds me of Colorado…
Jim, they don’t find the passed-out drunks until the snow melts…
Rather jealous. Starting to think we’re not going to get snow this year.
Wonderful pics, something about night time snow is magical. Talk soon my friend. Damon
Fantastic photos, delightful blog – I made your pic of the sleeping salaryman with the luminous yellow taxi behind my workplace wallpaper of the week – could even stretch to a month.
Lovely.
